Ramón Cerdeiras, Founding Partner of Portobello Capital

15/10/2025

Today is a very sad day in the life of Portobello, and particularly for the three of us.

Our dear partner Ramón has left us, with whom exactly 15 years ago we set out on the adventure of creating Portobello.

We lived many moments with Ramón over these years: humble beginnings, hardships in difficult times, and great joy in our shared successes and accomplishments.

Ramón was always a calm and thoughtful pillar on this journey. He was a serene man who never lost his composure in the face of adversity. With his background as a State Attorney, he brought order, confidence and precision to the course of events. And he always offered a unique and insightful way of looking at things.

Above all, he was honorable. Unwaveringly upright. A partner you could trust blindly. A man of his word. For Ramón, you could only go as far as the truth allowed—and if not, then you did not go at all. Shortcuts did not exist for him.

Ramón was a warm and approachable person—kind and close. He enjoyed stepping down from the formal heights of State Law to engage personally and sincerely, taking an interest in the personal lives of the members of our team. Ramón was deeply human and endearing.

A loyal friend. A great conversationalist and a lover of beauty. He wholeheartedly enjoyed good conversation as much as he did the finer things in life.

With Ramón we shared many unforgettable moments at Portobello—always present in spirit during our company retreats with the entire team. In tense situations, Ramón was calm; in relaxed moments, he was joyful—a quiet bon vivant.

We never imagined we would one day have to write these words. But life surprises us, and when the time comes, it makes you reflect: those moments lived, those conversations shared, those laughs, and those achievements reached through effort—every one of them was worth it. And perhaps we should have had even more.

Dear Ramón, we will miss you deeply, but your legacy and your memory will always remain with us. You will forever be part of who we are today.

Íñigo, Juan Luis and Luis
